Basically, when my headphones are calibrated, I'll be able to hear my audio as if it was in a totally flat, well soundproofed studio, free from all colouration such as room echo and object reverberations, so its in a similar ballpark to NX, without waves business model tripping me up. They make a speaker calibration system, but also a headphones calibration system, which is a VST. One is IK multimedias ARC2 system, and the other one, which i'm more interested in, is Sonarworks. I havent tried the NX, but when I posted over at Gearslutz about a bass resonance problem I was having due to room accoustics, the users there put me onto 2 products that look very interesting. Maybe, because I use FL studio, I've gotten used to their very generous "free updates for life" policy, and I wish other companies would have a similar approach to their existing customer base. I've bought waves renaissance bass, NS-1 suppressor, kramer pye compressor, and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head, but I got an email from waves the other day basically saying that my subscription was about to end, and I would no longer be entitled to plugin updates, and I think that sucks, so I'll no longer buy any waves plugins. I've been thinking about buying some similar software, but after buying a few waves plugins, I've decided I don't like their business model as its very cut-throat. I have a few mix sessions coming up and will maybe download it and throw it on a few sessions! Waves MaxxVolume is one of the best Waves plugins for vocals or drums. I'll post back in a few weeks and let you know. This plugin is great for making things tighter, louder and for leveling dynamically uneven material. Waves Nx can generate artificial directional information to monophonic sources, and can also reproduce, in a binaural manner, directional information already embedded in stereo or multi-channel input audio streams. I really wouldn't know if it sounds like a hardware unit. * I will probably never see a real Fairchild 670 compressor, but I would love to know what you think of the emulation by Melda. * What you do is download their installer for their free bundle (there's a screen to check/uncheck what you want to install) - I suggest the "uncheck all" box, but then check the "free effects" box and of course MTurboComp. Waves also has Abbey Road Studio, whose speaker emulation is excellent, and superior for 2-channel emulation than Dolby Atmos imo.

Both the Mac version of Waves NX and the old (but free) iOS versions are not well supported. You might demo a compressor by Melda Productions, which emulates over a dozen classic compressors, including the Fairchild. Fuse Audio Labs releases the VCS-1 All-In Channel Strip Sequential Take 5 Waves introduces SSL EV2 Channel Plugin Kirchhoff-EQ: Ultimate EQ plugin with superb dynamic processing and vintage models Universal Audio Announces Volt USB Audio Interfaces Incredible Synth Performances Steven Slate Audio VSX 2. Waves NX is primarily good for the emulation of stereo 2-channel and 5.1 channel mixes for headphones. Sirmonkey wroteI couldn't find any videos on the Presonus emulation anywhere either. I'll check out all of these over the next few weeks. Waves 360 Surround Tools Plug-in Bundle Features: A complete toolset for porcessing, mixing, and enhancing your surround sound mixes.

I do like the Fat Channel Pultec and find it to be interchangeable with the sea of other ones floating around in my plugin folder, but if I’m gonna get a birthday present I wanna know what YOU think. Universal Audio's latest plug-in is an audacious attempt to bridge the gap between the project studio and professional recording environments.

Have you used it? What do you think? I like the RC and VT plugins from the channel strip collection well enough but don’t find myself using the Fat Channel 1176 over the UAD takes. I’ve been searching around and can’t find any reviews anywhere of the Fat Channel FC-670. I really like the Legacy 670 but hey, she gets me a plugin of my choice every year and why not get another? The Puigchild feels oddly sterile for a 670. The Klanghelm is cool but seems to add a weird midrangey thing that I’m not completely in love with. I already have the UAD legacy 670, Klanghelm MJUC, and just picked up the Puigchild on the recent $1 Waves sale. I’ve been lucky enough to use the real thing and understand that no plugin will compare perfectly with it, especially as they’re decades old and each one is different, so I’m not looking for miracles here. So my birthday is coming up and I’ve been searching for a decent Fairchild 670 plugin to have my partner pick up as a present.
